How much does therapy cost?

I'm interested in having neurofeedback or counselling. What do I do?

Are any of the treatment costs covered by private health funds or Medicare?

For neurofeedback during the initial consultation we will be able to gain a better understanding of what your needs are and begin to formulate a treatment plan for you. We can then provide you with an estimate of how many sessions will be required and what costs will be involved.  Because effective treatment requires a minimum of 10 sessions, we provide packages that can reduce the cost.

How long do sessions last and how often will I have to come?

Do I need a referral from my doctor to make an appointment at NeuroHQ?

For general therapy usually 10 sessions are enough. For neurotherapy without an assessment this is a difficult question to answer. For Neurofeedback, some clients need as few as 15 sessions, while others will need upwards of 40 training sessions. In the early stages of treatment, we generally ask our clients for a time commitment of two 50 minute sessions per week as this is what is generally required to enable the training to hold and see changes. However, this can vary from client to client. Some people can manage more and some people require shorter sessions, this will be determined at the initial consultation.

Yes you can. PLEASE NOTE: Your prescribed medications are VERY important. You must maintain the dose that your doctor has recommended. If your condition improves as a result of treatment at NeuroHQ, and you are considering a possible change to your medication dosage, you will need to speak with your doctor before making any changes.

Can everyone be helped by Neurofeedback?

At what age can a child start doing neurofeedback therapy?

At what age can a child start doing neurofeedback therapy?

Unfortunately not. Neurofeedback is not a cure all. The likelihood of positive results is very high for the more straightforward cases. For people whose only issues involve inattention and/or impulse control there is approximately 80% success rate. Once the situation is more complex, there are other factors that have to be addressed which may or may not benefit from Neurofeedback.
